What is a bioshelter?
A bioshelter is a small, above-ground living space that keeps slight positive pressure so air leaks outward, not in. All intake air passes through a serial stack of HEPA filters sized to maintain pressure and low particle counts. Core elements: intake prefilter → HEPA/ULPA stages; variable-speed fan; airtight envelope; pressure & air-quality monitoring; power redundancy (UPS/generator port).
Not a bunker: no underground/blast claims; focus is clean air and habitability.
Limits: no system is absolute; performance depends on proper setup, maintenance, and power.
Why positive pressure? If a leak occurs, air flows out; contaminants don’t flow in. See general references on cleanrooms and positive pressure.
Emergency use aside, clean-air capsules can also serve as quiet, low-allergen spaces in normal times.
